A young boy bored with watching sheep picks up a stick and begins swinging it like a sword fighting imaginary pirates. He wonders what it would be like to be one. He had heard from his friends that pirates have lots of money and they respect his clan. Being a pirate certainly had to be better than being out in the middle of nowhere with sheep all day. His family barely had enough meat to feed everyone once a day.
“Some day,” he thought. “Some day.”
About 80% of the Somali population are nomadic pastoralists, who keep goats, sheep, camels and cattle. Who will search for this young boy in the desert? Who will tell him his life has purpose in Jesus?
